Bloomington

Bloomington is a 2010 coming-of-age drama film about a former child actress (Sarah Stouffer) attending college in search of independence and who ends up becoming romantically involved with a female professor played by Allison McAtee. Their relationship thrives until an opportunity to return to acting forces her to make life-altering decisions. Jackie Kirk, a former child actress, catches the eye of an infamous, womanizing lesbian teacher, named Catherine Stark (McAtee), when Jackie attends college in Bloomington, Indiana. Jackie attempts to fit in with her fellow students, who are in awe of her acting background. 

After meeting at an on-campus mixer, Catherine and Jackie begin a secret and scandalous affair that draws Jackie away from the college social life. Catherine and Jackie grow closer as they help each other discover more about themselves, when suddenly Jackie gets the chance to return to acting. Catherine becomes uncomfortable with their situation, seeing how it could seemingly never work out, with Jackie having to constantly visit Catherine under the guise of her just being a “friend,” as it would be hazardous for both of them for should their romance ever got out.

Room in Rome

A young Russian woman named Natasha is soon to be married and is on holiday in Rome where she meets Alba. She accompanies Alba to her hotel room as a curious acquaintance and stays as a growing friend. In this room in Rome, the two women come to know one another intimately over the course of the night, and explore and discover themselves along the way. Only the break of day threatens to break their newly forged bond. NB: The original title is “Habitación en Roma”.

Elena Undone

Peyton and Elena are, on the surface, diametrically opposed, one, a well-known lesbian writer, the other a mother and wife of a pastor, but when their paths cross, several times over, they feel compelled to connect. What begins as friendship quickly blossoms into something deeper. Peyton tries to extricate herself before her heart wants what it can’t have. Elena can’t imagine not having Peyton in her life. 

And despite the fact that she has never even considered kissing a woman, Elena is overwhelmed with a desire to do just that. Despite Peyton’s reservations, Elena pushes the relationship into a full-blown affair. The two women fall deeply in love, both keenly aware a future together might be little more than a dream.

The Four Faced Liar

The Four Faced Liar is a dramatic comedy written by Marja-Lewis Ryan and directed by Jacob Chase. It tells the story The story revolves around the loves and lies of four twenty-somethings friends looking to find themselves in New York City. A pair of best friends and a seemingly perfect couple meet at a local Irish pub tucked in the winding streets of the West Village. Through their chance meeting, the four bond and over time all of their relationships with one another morph into love, betrayal and heartbreak for all.

The Secret Diaries of Miss Anne Lister

The Secret Diaries of Miss Anne Lister is a biopic written by Jane English and directed by James Kent. Here is a synopsis of the movie: in nineteenth century Yorkshire wealthy orphan Anne Lister lives with an aunt and uncle, anxious for her to marry well and blissfully unaware that she is a lesbian,recording her thoughts and exploits in a coded diary. When her lover Mariana Belcombe makes a marriage of convenience to rich old Charles Lawton,she feels betrayed and,although Mariana visits and has sex with her,the relationship is going nowhere. Helped by old flame Tib she makes a play for innocent Miss Browne but sees she is barking up the wrong tree and diverts herself by renovating the family hall. 

A drunken Tib almost exposes her secret and scornful mine-owner Christopher Rawson,whose marriage proposal she rejects,tells her that her sexuality is a subject of local gossip. Undeterred Anne meets Ann Walker who becomes her new ‘wife’ and they open a coal-mine ,living happily together. An end title tells us that Anne Lister died prematurely in 1840 on holiday in Russia.

A Marine Story

A Marine Story is a lesbian drama written and directed by Ned Farr. Alexandra is a mysterious naval officer with a feisty character. She seems strong enough to beat any man in a fight at the bar; but there is one opponent she will never be able to defeat: the military policy. Returning to her conservative hometown from an Iraq training camp, she will be secretly charged to form a tempestuous young woman before she officially joins a military boot camp. Alexandra and  Saffron are portrayed by Dreya Weber and Paris P. Pickard.

The Kids Are All Right

The Kids Are All Right is a romantic drama created by Lisa Cholodenko, featuring Annette Bening and Julianne Moore. Nic and Jules are in a long term, committed, loving but by no means perfect same-sex relationship. Nic, a physician, needs to wield what she believes is control, whereas Jules, under that control, is less self-assured. During their relationship, Jules has floundered in her “nine to five” life, sometimes trying to start a business – always unsuccessfully – or being the stay-at-home mom. 

She is currently trying to start a landscape design business. They have two teen-aged children, Joni (conceived by Nic) and Laser (by Jules). Although not exact replicas, each offspring does more closely resemble his/her biological mother in temperament. Joni and Laser are also half-siblings, having the same unknown sperm donor father. Shortly after Joni’s eighteenth birthday and shortly before she plans to leave the house and head off to college, Laser, only fifteen and underage to do so, pleads with her to try and contact their sperm donor father. Somewhat reluctantly, she does. He is late…
