Why George?

Why George? is a romantic drama written by Shari Umansky and directed by David Sonkin. Zach and Sam is the ideal straight couple. They are young, sentimental and both totally secure in their impervious adoration. So when Zach proposes that Sam should “try being with a woman” before they begin to create a family, she is reticent at first but finally accepte the “challenge”. Sam take it as an opportunity to experiment something new and test her couple. So, she will meet a woman online named George and initiate a relationship with her but things will quickly go out of hand. Sam and George are portrayed by Leia Thompson and Laurie Okin. Note that this film is very hard to find today. I can’t find this title anywhere online.

Fingersmith

Fingersmith is a television movie (a mini-series) made in two part, it premiered on BBC in 2005. The story is an adaptation of the eponym Sarah Walters’ Man Booker Prize nominated novel. Susan “Sue” Trinder is a fingersmith (British slang for thief) who lives in the slums of London with a baby farmer (person who looks after unwanted babies) Mrs.Sucksby. When a once rich man, who gambled all his money away, presents them with a scam that has a payout of 40,000 pounds, Sue signs on to swindle rich Maud Lilly. Maud is an orphan who lives with her uncle, but what exactly is going on in the Lilly house? Sue will pose as Maud’s maid so that Mr. Rivers (the gentleman) can get close to and eventually marry her. Their plan is to put Maud in the madhouse and take the money for themselves. All goes astray though when Sue falls in love with Maud. And the question is: Who can you trust?. The film was Directed by Aisling Walsh and features the British actresses Sally Hawkins and Elaine Cassidy.

Die Leibwächterin

Die Leibwächterin is a german lesbian-themed TV movie written by Harald Göckeritz and directed by Markus Imboden. It tells the story of Mona Dengler, a divorced woman who is raising her son Philip alone. She earns her living as a bodyguard. Her new mission is to protect Johanna Sieber, an influential lesbian politician who hides her sexual preferences since she married a man named Tim. Johanna Sieber has become a target for many organizations because of her fight against the tobacco industry. Mona does its work efficiently and carefully until she finds herself blackmailed by Franck, the dealer of her son. He requests information on Johanna in exchange for the release of philip. Die Leibwächterin is loosely inspired on Bodyguard, a film directed by Mick Jackson in 1992. Mona and Johanna are portrayed by Ulrike Folkerts and Barbara Rudnik. 

Imagine Me & You

Imagine Me & You is a 2005 German-British romantic comedy film written and directed by Ol Parker. Rachel and Heck, long time friends and lovers, finally tie the knot, and during the celebration, Rachel starts a friendship with their florist, Luce. And while Rachel originally intended to match her new friend, Luce, up with her husband’s friend, Cooper, she soon finds out that Luce is a lesbian. During the course of their friendship, Rachel starts to question her own sexuality. And though she comes to realize she may have feelings for her new friend, Rachel must decide who she will ultimately find the most happiness with: Heck, her new husband who is also adored by her family, or Luce, who has turned her life and everything she thought she knew about love upside down.
